About Us

GPS Driving School opened in 2016 as a fully licensed and certified private driving
school by the North Carlina Department of Motor Vehicles. The school provides driver
education services to teens seeking to become licensed drivers. These students attend
a course consisting of 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-
wheel driving with one of the school’s licensed driving instructors. GPS Driving School
also provides behind-the-wheel driving lessons for teens and adults.
Over the past 8 years, GPS Driving School has taught over 2,000 teens and 500 adults
on how to drive safely and responsibly. The school serves students from Johnston,
Wake, Wayne, Wilson, and surrounding counties. Today, the school holds fifteen (15)
teen driver education courses per year while employing a staff of six (6) driving
instructors.
Bill and Kristine Messick own and operate GPS Driving School.
Bill is a native of Greenville, NC. After graduating from J.H. Rose High School, he
attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and obtained a Bachelor of Arts
Degree in Communications from UNC-Chapel Hill. For 11 years, he worked for a
property and casualty insurance Company in Raleigh. His last job for the company was
managing a team of 3 supervisors and 15 claims analysts who were responsible for the
investigation, damage assessment and resolution of automobile accident claims.
In 2000, Bill attended the evening law school program at North Carolina Central
University. After graduating, he opened a law firm on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh.
Over the course of 20 years, his firm handled personal injury claims, civil litigation, and
insurance company disputes.
Kristine is also from Greenville and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from UNC-
Chapel Hill. She worked in the prenatal clinic at the Wake County Public Health
Department for more than 20 years. Her favorite aspect of nursing was counseling
expectant mothers.
Bill and Kristine have 3 children, Lauren, 33, Kathryn, 29, and Andrew, 23. Lauren and
Kathryn graduated from Clayton High School while Andrew graduated from Corinth
Holders. They have a granddaughter, Olivia, 1.

Driving Instructors

Bill and Kristine are licensed driving instructors. Kristine serves as the school’s lead
classroom instructor, and Bill teaches both classroom and behind-the-wheel driving.

Adam Hamrick

Adam holds a master’s degree in health education from East Carolina University. He
teaches Healthy Living / Physical Education at Swift Creek Middle School in Clayton.
He resides in Clayton with his wife, 6 year-old daughter, and 3 year-old son. Adam
enjoys spending time with his family, watching sports, and coaching football and
baseball.

Gary Smith

Gary retired in 2016 from Indspec Chemical in Petrolia, PA.  He and his wife moved to
Clayton in 2016.  Gary has a daughter who lives in Clayton and teaches at Southside
Christian School.  He has 2 grandchildren, ages 11 and 15, who attend Southside.  In
his spare time, Gary enjoys playing pickle ball.

Adam Meder

Adam retired from the Angier Police Department in 2021, after serving 20 years in law
enforcement. Adam has four children - Destiny, Kimberly, David, and Eden. His two
oldest daughters attend NCSU and Johnston Community College, his youngest
daughter, Eden, attends West View Elementary, and his son, David, is a Junior at
Cleveland High School. In his spare time, Adam enjoys working on cars and spending
time with his family.

Chris Willis

Chris is a graduate of UNC-Wilmington. He currently serves as a teacher, athletic
coach, and bus driver for Swift Creek Middle School. In his spare time, he enjoys
spending time with his family and watching sports.

Jorge Aragon

Jorge is a Technical Instructor for Nutanix.  He graduated from East Carolina University
with degrees in Systems Security, Networking, and Network Operating Systems.  He
and his wife moved to the Triangle area in 2018.  In Jorge's spare time, he enjoys
spending time with his 2 year old daughter.

Dustin (Dusty) Johnson

Dusty retired as a state law enforcement agent in 2020 from the NC License & Theft
Bureau. He currently serves as a police officer with the Town of Clayton. He and his wife
have lived in Clayton for more than 10 years. They have two children and two
grandchildren. Dusty and his wife enjoy traveling.
